Merge Sort Implementation in Java to Sort An Array of Integers

Merge Sort is  comparison based divide and conquer algorithm to sort data. This sort can be implemented recursively.

Algorithm Steps:

  1. If the number of items to sort is 0 or 1, return
  2. Sort the first and second half of the array recursively
  3. Merge the two sorted halves into a sorted array.

Complexity:

  • Base Case: O(nlogn)
  • Average Case: O(nlogn)
  • Worst Case: O(nlogn)
